About Dawn

Dawn Lisabeth - Owner, Head Trainer

I was schooled from a young age in all areas of dog care, training and breeding by my mother and mentor, Jac Harbour (founder of Hearing Ear Dogs of Canada, Co Founder of Key Companions Service Dogs, Veterinary Assistant, Breeder for over 30 years of Std. Poodles, Basenjis & Border Terriers, Boarding Kennel Owner/Operator, Professional All Breed Dog Groomer, & Pioneer Trainer of Std. Poodles in the Hunting Field) and so followed in Jac's footsteps; I have trained Service Dogs to assist people with disabilities; coordinated the Foster Puppy Program for the Lion's Foundation of Canada (now Dog Guides Canada); trained my own dogs in Obedience, Rally, Conformation, Tracking, Therapy Work, and Hunt Tests; am a Professional All Breed Dog Groomer; past Clinic Coordinator for the East York Animal Clinic; am a Breeder of Std. Poodles; Studied Dog Anatomy & Movement; Studied How Dogs Learn & Dog Behaviour.

My family consists of myself, my husband, two beautiful children and my Std. Poodles, we are a busy household so I also bring my personal experiences of training dogs while interacting and living harmoniously with my family.

I am constantly amazed by a dog's capacity to learn, how they adapt to us and how they compliment our lives. For this reason I continue to advance my knowledge base by attending seminars and conferences, taking teleconferences & reading or viewing up-to-date training & behavioural books & DVD's.

I have been a member of the Canadian Association of Professional Pet Dog Trainers since 1995 & am a Long Service Member of the Canadian Kennel Club. I am also an Evaluator for the Canadian Kennel Club's Canine Good Neighbour Program. As a young person I was a competitive gymnast. I then moved in to coaching the sport in my free time while attending college and attained my Level 1 coaching qualifications.

Since my first dog "Betsy" I have never been separated from dogs, dog training and the wonderful bond that has developed between myself and dogs. I would like to share my experiences and ignite a passion in other people that would encourage them to invest their time to train their dogs & achieve a positive relationship with their best canine friend.
